mate calm down man, there's always other contests. suck that you couldn't make it cos i believe this piece is dope as fuck.

Word, I'll keep it mind. Thanks! :)

First listen I thought about The Terminal by shadow6nothing9. The nostalgia is very deep. But this piece is a beautiful composition on its own. I am honored. This piece is amazingly fit that art piece. I love the progression of the melodies. And the uncertainty of the overall mood. There's despair and desperate, but there's also hope somewhere in there. It's a strange feeling that it was inspired by something close to my heart. I remember something about the piece, it was a birthday present for somebody that they didn't really pay attention to. And I'm so glad it didn't lose to time.

Thank you for this work.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I remember "The Terminal"! So it's awesome that this piece reminded you of it :O! I can definitely hear the resemblance.

It's really the most important to hear from you that the piece fits the art, considering you're the one who made it, once upon a time. So thank you very much!

You really captured a large part of the theme, with "uncertainty". I'm glad you get it! While I definitely want there to be a slightly negative tone at parts, I want the overall experience to be a bit more ambiguous ^ ^
"Hope" would probably also fit quite well, considering who else has used the art for inspiration in the past!

Oh, was it? I'm glad that the art is still alive, and has more than one composition inspired by it. It certainly is deserving of that!

Thank you very much for creating the art, for listening, and for writing down your thoughts. And for being you ;)
Good luck in the AIM!

The chord progression is something i dig. This piece is the definition of a chill track that's simple yet powerful. It doesn't take big orchestra or percussion to capture such emotion. It's just piano and string/pad. Like the light shone down on the dark pasture and all the flowers grew out when the light come. Like signalling the new born coming to this world. But like the opposite of the other track. The two makes a perfect harmony between light and dark. Like this world. There are darkness that takes over our life. But light can be existed too. And we must not forget the harmony so we won't unbalance them.

Excellent work!!!!

Phonometrologist responds:

The chord progression is all that it is, and without it, well, it would mean nothing. I appreciate the imagery you ascribed this piece to. You remind me of the parable in Matthew 13:24-30 about the weeds and the wheat. I am naturally a pessimistic, and I often think about the injustices in this world. However, this reminds me that although things are getting darker, it also is getting brighter in some aspects too. Side by side, one can see both depending on which side of humanity one looks.
Thank you!

Congrats for the frontpage. Such an awesome piece. I love the change of pace/tempo and scale through out the track. very original, especially for a hybrid track.

Phonometrologist responds:

All the picoday submissions are frontpaged-- small selection this year. Thanks for your help and feedback.

Very fitting the artwork. I wish there was more development between the parts tho. Interesting how you keep it very cinematic. That bass in the background is dope as fuck. Sad to see the ending is lack of elements to get it pumped up. This track had a lot of potential if you add transition here and there. I do enjoy this one. Good job dude.

5TanLey responds:

well I tried my best but there is still a long journey ahead of me :)

OMFG YOU JUST DROPPED DA NUKE! (no pun intended)

What you kidding me bro? this piece is going to win so hard it will knock everything else in the path. The production and quality overall is above and beyond. Thank goodness I listened to this in the noon time, else I would have all my hair on the body stood up at midnight. And I'm listening to this on loop, that's something.

I have heard Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima before this piece (in Children of Men), but I do believe your rivals that piece. Mind melting work. The amount of detail is amusing. Damn I ran out of vocabularies to describe this...

i don't want to sound like a wimp but this piece brought back some dark memories. Sometime I wish I could undo my life and start over again, erasing all these unpleasant memories. but i can't.

thank you for this mindblowing track.

Phonometrologist responds:

I actually hope it doesn’t win, because I don’t want to offend anyone if a non-tonal piece places over other tracks that are. But also, judging music in general is hard to do since it has many points of personal opinion and tastes, but by adding to it an aleatoric piece makes judging it even less quantifiable. Thank you for the endearing remarks. However, I can’t ever put myself in a position next to Penderecki as he envisioned and created this style. The laurel wreath remains upon him as the creation can never surpass its creator. At a technical stand point, I emailed 8Dio that we still need a library that could change in oscillation in realtime of the string’s tremolo like in "Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima.” Also, In “Threnody…” the tone clusters has different string players resolve to microtones. We are still far from achieving complete control of what a string player can do in a performance. But then again, the argument would be that these companies are only interested in creating libraries for commercial use.

maximum eargasm.

very psychedelic feel and chilling. i love how you always try out something new!

etherealwinds responds:

I get bored too easily is what it is. Thanks for listening and reviewing :)

do you use a noise generator or just data bending from audio editor? i like how the noises aren't random and seem to be quite orderly.

EthiopianPolice responds:

I record audio actual room audio and stuff and then play with it in audacity basically. For the beginning, I recorded a brief song and really slowed it down and such

your shit is so amazing, did you know that?

ABoyWithABalloon responds:

Thanksman you guys give me some hope <3

If you can't reach me in time for permission, feel free to go ahead use my work anyway.
